Equestrian: Christian Kukuk (GER) wins individual jumping gold!

It came down to a jump-off, but Kukuk has done it!

After Kukuk, Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Maikel van der Vleuten executed perfect runs in the final without knocking a single post down, the three men had to settle for a jump-off to decide the medals.

But it was Kukuk and his horse Checker 47 who kept their cool in the jump off as their competitors incurred penaties, with the former duo producinganother clean run to win a deserved gold medal!

The Orlando Magic's Wagner brothers (Franz and Mo) have 6 points apiece for Germany, while Antetokounmpo has 10 for Greece.

I said this contest was going to be epic, and so it proved to be!

After China won the opneing set, Türkiye came roaring back to the next two before China won the fourth set 25-21 to set up a fifth and final frame.

But it was Türkiye who prevailed 15-12 to huge applause from their fans in the arena - what a match!

Basketball: Greece lead Germany after first quarter

World champions Germany are in a bit of trouble here.

They're down 10 after the first quarter, with Antetokounmpo having a huge impact on both ends of the court (8 points, 1 block), including a spectacular breakaway dunk that had the crowd on their feet.

But Germany are an experienced team and a 10-point lead in basketball is nothing - especially with this amount of time left in the game.

Paris 2024: Recap of Day 10 and looking forward to Day 11

Good Morning and welcome back to the official live blog for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games!

Here's a quick recap of what happened yesterday:

Day 10 was a memorable one, which featured world records falling in four different sports, headlined by Mondo Duplantis in the men’s pole vault, but also the Team GB women’s team sprint track cycling team, Aleksandra Miroslaw in the women’s speed climbing, and the Italian mixed team skeet shooters during qualifying.

Let's hope Day 11 is just as exciting! Here's what's in store:

Themen's basketballcompetition reaches the quarter-final stage (from 11am), with the top eight teams from the groups going head-to-head as the competition switches from Lille to theBercy Arenain Paris.Men'shockeyis also reaching its conclusion, reaching the last four, as iswomen's football.

Elsewhere, the first gold medal will be awarded inboxingat the historicRoland-Garros Stadium, while thecanoe sprintevents begin at theNautical StadiuminVaires-sur-Marne.

There are just15 gold medal events on 6 August, but they include the second half of the women's sprint double in athletics, which is one of our selected highlights of the day:

Athletics (track and field) – New champion to be crowned in absence of Jamaican stars and Richardson

The reigningwomen's 200mOlympic champion,Elaine Thompson-Herah, isn’t in Paris after missing the Jamaican championships and trials.

But her teammate Shericka Jackson isn’t in action either, after pulling out of the 200m heats having been struggling with an injury she recently picked up.

And USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson didn’t qualify in the 200m either.

That could make the biggest challenger for gold U.S. championGabby Thomas, the bronze medallist in Tokyo. Thomas is fourth all-time behind Flo-Jo, Jackson, and Thompson-Herah.

There are also two Britons in the final, including 2019 world champion Dina Asher-Smith, as well as St. Lucia’s newly crowned 100m Olympic champion Julien Alfred.

Skateboarding - Sky Brown goes for gold

Thewomen's park skateboardingevent takes place today (prelims 12:30pm, final 5:30pm), which – as it did three years ago – could produce one of the youngest podiums of the entire Olympic Games.

All three medallists from Tokyo –Yosozumi Sakura, now 22;Hiraki Cocona, now 15; andSky Brown, also 15 – are back, and they're joined by the likes of 14-year-old AustralianArisa Trewand 16-year-oldKusaki Hinano, among others.

Yosozumi, the defending champion, nearly didn't qualify – Brown's final run at the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapestsalvaged the dayfor her best friend, who now has a shot at retaining her title.

But in the face of the young guns, that's by no means guaranteed.

Surfing: Caroline Marks of Team USA has won Gold

It came down to the final minute, the heat deciding score dropping only after the final horn had sounded. In the end, Caroline Marks of the United States is your Women's Surfing Gold Medalist.

The heat started slow with both Marks (USA) and Tatiana Weston-Webb of Brazilwaiting patiently for Mother Nature to send a good wave their way. After both failing to get a wave above a 1.0 for nearly 10 minutes, Marks made the drop on a solid set wave, faded her bottom turn a bit, and pulled up and in to a round, pristine barrel. It wasn't the deepest of the day or the longest but it was clean, beautiful even, and she came out flawlessly. She got a 7.50 for it and, like the Men's Final earlier, the first good wave ridden also proved to be the Gold Medal winner.

Weston-Webb (BRA)answered with a tube of her own, albeit on a smaller wave, and rode it straight into a couple strong rail turns. The result was a 5.83.

The plot thickened as Marks (USA) failed to find a big second score. A short little tube ride and hooking top turn got her a 3.00,a number which would eventually become her second best score for a heat total of 10.50. She was close to coming out of another big barrel but the lip clipped her as she high-lined it towards the exit. The wipeout left the door open for Weston-Webb (BRA) in the final 90 seconds.

A small wave presented itself and Weston-Webb (BRA) took off needing only a 4.68 to win Gold. She used her rail game to tear the wave up, gouging multiple turns just before time expired. After a few minutes of uncertainty, the judges scores came in- a 4.50. Just shy of a Gold Medal performance.

Back on the beach, Marks (USA) was a vision of pure joy. “I’m so honoured and so happy, this is just incredible and I’m so emotional." she said, "So happy to do this for my family and everyone back home. Wow, I’m just so happy.”

Surfing: The scene at Teahupo'o after Vaast's (FRA) win

Kauli Vaast of Team France first surfed Teahupo'o when he was 8 years old. He grew up just a short distance from the famed lefthander. Now twenty-two years old, Vaast has just won an Olympic Gold Medal surfing in his own backyard.

According to Olympics.com surf reporter Ash Tulloch, who is on scene in Tahiti, it was an outwardly emotional scene on the water and on the beach once Vaast's win was official:

"The water has gone crazy. Lifeguards in tears - hands in the air- cheering and whistling. This is their local hero and the pride is oozing. A huge circle has been created around Kauli by boats and jet skis. Hands in the air constantly. His hero and idol Jeremy Flores [Team France's coach] has also jumped on the ski with him and is elated."

Surfing: French surfer and Tahitian local Kauli Vaast wins Gold

Surfing a wave he grew up riding, Team France's Kauli Vaast has won the Gold Medal.

You could hear the excitement building on the beach, audible chants of "Kauli! Kauli!" ringing out as the clock ticked down. In the end, the Teahupo'o local was the easy winner in his Gold Medal match up with Australia's Jack Robinson.

All the scoring that mattered happened in the first 9-minutes of the Final, the highlight coming on the heat's opening exchange. Vaast (FRA) drew first blood and it was about as impressive as it gets. The day's biggest wave opened wide for him and he got absolutely kegged out of his mind for the entire wave. He came flying out, both arms flexing, shouting wildly. It was a 9.50 and, as it turned out, it was the wave of the day on the Men's side of the draw.

Robinson (AUS), surfing on his backhand, answered on the very next wave, pulling in deep to a frothy, intense tube. He came out after the spit and got a 7.83 for the effort. But that was it for Robinson. He never managed another scoring wave in the heat.

But for the eventual Gold Medalist, his near-perfect opening was backed up by another deep barrel. But this time he came out and executed a smooth and powerful cutback before critcially snapping his board under the lip at the wave's finish.

Surfing: Medina (BRA) reflects on medal win

Bronze Medal winner Gabriel Medina of Brazil caught up with Olympics.com surf reporter Ash Tulloch after winning the Bronze. Joined by his father Charlie in Teahupo'o, the former World Champion was thrilled to get some Olympic redemption after his 4th place finish in Tokyo.

“I’m so happy to get the Bronze Medal. That was my goal coming here, to get a medal. In Tokyo I was really close and this year I had another chance and I just wanted it really bad so I gave my all in the semi-final. I’m really happy with it. Surfing: Team France's Johanne Defay wins Bronze

Punching the lip like a prize fighter, Johanne Defay of France just won Bronze in Tahiti.

Using the same formula that got her to the finals, Defay (FRA) destroyed section after section with powerful, near vertical backside whacks. She also found the heat's only real barrel, pulling in to one of the biggest set waves to roll through the lineup all day. Her crisp, top-to-bottom approach was fast, fluid and- ultimately- a medal winner thanks to a 6.83 and 5.83.

For her part, Hennessy (CRC) struggled to find her rhythm. Though she managed a few vicious hacks in the pocket, the strong scoring waves just weren't there for the Costa Rican regular foot. She concluded her Olympic bid with a 3.00 and a 1.93.

Surfing: Gabriel Medina (BRA) has won the Bronze

With the waves improving in both size and consistency, 3x World Champion Gabriel Medina of Brazil put on quite a show en route to winning the Bronze Medal.

After failing to find a second scoing wave in his semi-final heat, Medina (BRA) was throwing away 7.5s in his Bronze Medal heat against Peru's Alonso Correa. Whether he was double hand-dragging in the day's deepest barrels or attempting a high flying alley-oop over nearly dry reef, the Brazilian goofy foot was the definition of high performance surfing this heat. He won with a pair of 7.77s, one earned courtesy of the day's most impressive tube to date and the other with a wave that featured 4 consecutive turns, each one different from the next but all of them undeniably committed and progressive.

Correa (PER) took an early lead thanks to some proper tube time and stylish cutbacks but his total heat score of 12.43 was no match for a very in form Medina.

With the win, Medina (BRA) has improved on his 4th place finish in Tokyo and swapped it out for a Bronze here at Teahupo'o.

Surfing: Weston-Webb of Brazil has advanced to the finals

Using full rail turns and some keen tube riding acumen, Tatiana Weston-Webb of Brazil has posted the day's highest single wave score (an 8.33) and total heat score (a 13.66) on her way to winning her semi-final heat. She will surf later for gold against Caroline Marks of the United States.

Heat #2 of the Women's semi-finals was actually over well before the final horn sounded. Weston-Webb (BRA) had a slight lead early and was sitting with priority when Costa Rica's Brisa Hennessy flagrantly interferred, dropping in on Weston-Webb (BRA)as the two women caught the same wave. The penalty for the accidental mishap meant that Hennessy (CRC) could only have one scoring wave count for her total heat score. As soon as Weston-Webb had a total heat score over 10.00, the heat was effectively over.

Despite making the fatal gaff, Hennessy (CRC)surfed with conviction on her backhand and turned in the heat's second highest scoring wave (a 6.17) thanks to a series of strong turns that threw buckets of roiling whitewater over the back of the wave.

Speaking with surf reporter Ash Tulloch after her win, Weston-Webb (BRA) offered, "Very happy I got to showcase my surfing. I really feel like I’m getting a handle of this wave and I’m glad it’s showing. For our country this means so much and I can’t wait to represent Brazil in the final.”
