Well, I think it was this Labor Cookies Recipe, a baby girl was born not long after I ate them… all. You might want to try them too. They are similar to a ginger snap but so much better for kickstarting your contractions.

With baby #3 I was coming up on my due date after my first 2 were both born 3 weeks early. I was miserable and willing to try just about anything.

I mean anything even tried the Castro Oil, walking, pedicures, pressure points, walking, super spicey foods, walking, squats, walking, moving furniture, more walking… yeah I was at the end of my rope and beyond tired!

A friend of mine asked me if I had tried labor cookies and I perked right up. No, but I like cookies. In fact with this baby, I CRAVED cookies! Particularly I craved any recipe with Oreos in it. Apparently several of my friends swear by this recipe and were happy to pass it along to me.

They did warn me these aren't your mama's yummy ginger snap cookies. They have a hard kick to them.

So my friend my the labor-inducing cookies for me and I ate them. I ate them all, my family wouldn't touch them which was a huge bonus!

Now, I don't really know if it was these labor-inducing cookies or the million ba-jillion squats I did and 50 billion miles I walked that put me into labor but my little girl was born shortly after I ate a bunch of these.

Oh and this stubborn girl was born ON her due date!

Just a small tip I was had already started to dilate and was having very irregular contractions when I ate these so labor had started and was near this was just kick start for it.

Why does the Labor Inducing Cookie Recipe work?

The recipe is a mix of several things that are known and speculated in jumpstarting labor.

Cinnamon – Cinnamon has been known to stimulate labor contractions and strengthen those you already have.

Cayenne Pepper – Everyone tells you to eat spicy food to induce labor. So adding in some cayenne pepper to the cookies give it the same effect. Try to fight the urge to eat this with milk!

These are now my new favorite thing for expecting moms. So much so I want to start the tread that when you help a soon to me new mom out with casserole for stocking up her freezer for when the baby is born, include a batch of these cookies to help that little one come on out and meet the world.

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
8 tablespoons (or 1 stick) margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup homemade brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup molasses
2 egg whites
Powder Sugar

How to make Labor Inducing Cookies

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Start by combining the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, salt, and cayenne pepper in a small mixing bowl. Set dry ingredients aside.

Then blend margarine in a large mixing bowl. Stir in brown sugar and granulated sugar slowly. Add the molasses, then the egg whites.

Finally, add the dry ingredients to your mix.
